  •  Julie Orebaugh, Haltom City

    Julie Orebaugh, Haltom City Community Projects Coordinator, was recognized for her support of PÕ¾ÊÓƵ. She serves on multiple Partners in Education committees, and uses city resources to advertise school district needs and events.

     

    Roger Garcia, Birdville High School Coach

    Roger Garcia, Birdville High School soccer coach, was recognized for the boys soccer team winning District 8-5A.

Summary of Actions

  • Approved the donations from:

    • Various donors to the 2018 Teacher of the Year Gala; and
    • Big Tex Trailer World to PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s Auto Tech program.

    Approved the revised budgets for 2017–18.

    Approved the 2018–19 Accelerated Instruction Budget.

    Approved the 2018–19 General Fund, Child Nutrition and Debt Service budgets of $249,159,732.

    Approved the change in the start time of the PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees meeting in September from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m. This will allow trustees time to travel to the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) conference that begins the next morning in Austin.

    Approved Board Vice President Ralph Kunkel as an official voting delegate and Trustee Joe Tolbert as an alternate delegate to the 2018 TASB Delegate Assembly.

    Approved the resolution regarding local alternative graduation requirements.

    Approved the change in Board Policy CQA (LOCAL) Technology Resources: District, Campus and Classroom Websites. This revision includes a nondiscrimination clause, sets the standards for which online content and functionality will be measured, and provides details on how complaints or grievances related to the District’s websites should be filed.

    Approved a Memorandum of Understanding with TCU for PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s participation in the College Advising Corp.

    Approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Tarrant County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP) that PÕ¾ÊÓƵ desires to continue participation in and support of the program.

Public Hearing

  • A public hearing was conducted on the 2018–19 budget and tax rate.

Personnel

  • Announced 43 appointments, 23 resignations and 2 retirements.

    Approved the administrative appointments of:

    • Robert J. Chastain, Literacy Coach, North Oaks Middle School

    • Megan Fulkerson, Library Media Specialist, N. Richland Middle School

    • Jessica Lockhart, Elementary Dual Language Academic Coach

    Approved the superintendent’s 2018–19 contract.

    Approved software licenses renewals for:

    • Career Cruising from Xello;
    • eSPED Special Education Student Information Management subscription from Frontline Education;
    • Ellevation Education software;
    • Munis annual maintenance and support from Tyler Technologies, Inc.;
    • Ticketing system software from Zendesk, Inc.; and
    • Aesop and Veritime subscription from Frontline Education.

    Approved the contracts for:

    • Workers compensation insurance from Workers Compensation Solutions;
    • Casualty insurance from Scarbrough, Medlin & Associates, Inc.;
    • Oil and gas mineral property management services from BOK Finacial;
    • Scoreboards Service Agreement from Daktronics;
    • Services for 2018–19 from Education Service Center (ESC) Region 11; and
    • Broadband internet services from Education Service Center (ESC) Region 11.

    Approved the Prospering Pals Purchasing Cooperative Interlocal Agreement.

    Approved the final payment to:

    • Fort Worth Electric for main gymnasium lighting replacement at Birdville High School.

Future Board Meeting

  • Thursday, July 26, 2018, Regular Board Meeting, open session at 7 p.m., Boardroom.

Special Session

  • THE BOARD MET IN SPECIAL SESSION on June 7 and took the following actions:

    Nominate Ralph Kunkel for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors, Region 11, Position D.

    Approved an average of 2.25 percent pay raise to all staff. For teachers working 187 days, this is an annual increase of $1,350. The starting salary for a first-year teacher with no experience is $53,000.
