• Continuous Improvement

    Implementing Continuous Improvement in Birdville is important because it:

    Gives students the "edge" they need to compete in a global marketplace when they graduate from Birdville ISD.

    Gives us a framework for getting better and knowing that we have (improved student achievement).

    -

    Provides a process for addressing district goals in a systemic and systematic way.

    -

    Sets clear targets and expectations for everyone in the organization.

    -

    Aligns efforts at the district, department, campus, teacher and ultimately, the student level

    -

    Ensures that each student has the necessary resources to take ownership of his/her education.

    Requires the use of data to make important decisions and review progress toward meeting district, department, campus, and classroom goals.

    Addresses core message number one, "Students taking responsibility for their own learning",by teaching them to set individual goals, monitor their progress toward meeting their goals, and exploring options for changing behaviors when goals are not met (student data folders).

    Allows district, departments, and campuses to benchmark performance against high performing counterparts.

    Emphasizes improving the system, rather than blaming individuals working in the system.
