Recognitions

  • The Giving Tree

    Recognized The Tree of North Texas for their partnership with Birdville High School. They provide students with snacks, hygiene products, and winter coats and serve as a resource for larger needs as well. The Tree’s commitment to serving our campus needs allows the students, teachers, and staff to feel the comfort and security of a community that comes together to serve those in need. 

    Reese Helgason

    Reese Helgason, Porter Elementary fourth grader, was recognized as PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s 2023 Holiday Card Contest first-place winner.

    Charley Black

    Charley Black, Holiday Heights Elementary fifth grader, was recognized as PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s 2023 Holiday Card Contest second-place winner.

    Chloe Daniel

    Chloe Daniel, Snow Heights Elementary fifth grader, was recognized as PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s 2023 Holiday Card Contest third-place winner.

    Abby Arevalo

    Abby Arevalo, Cheney Hills Elementary fifth grader, was recognized as PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s 2023 Holiday Card Contest honorable mention winner.

    Auto Tech   

    Recognized the two Automotive Technology teams that recently won at the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow national competition held in Las Vegas. They will now represent PÕ¾ÊÓƵ and Texas at the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow 2023 Elite Ten National Championship in Indianapolis to compete for the title of Best team in the nation. Additionally, PÕ¾ÊÓƵ is the first Texas team ever to be represented in Indianapolis for the prestigious national competition. Teams are: 

    • “Team Engine Pro” placed fourth with a final time of 28:08. 
      • Aiden Albino, senior at Haltom High
      • Keven Atala, senior at Richland High
      • Kevin Fernandez, senior at Richland High
      • Ty Fuller, senior at Richland High
      • Jarrett Fuller, senior at Richland High 
    • “Team Howard’s Cams” placed third with a final time of 27:15. 
      • Patrick Lewter, senior at Birdville High
      • Zander Sladek, senior at Richland High
      • Eleazar Rivera, senior at Haltom High
      • Izaac Mireles, junior at Birdville High
      • Rene Chavez, junior at Haltom High 

    Sarah Stieg

    Recognized Sara Stieg, North Ridge Middle School mathematics teacher, as a secondary teacher division state finalist for the 2023 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). 

    RHS Varsity Football

    Recognized the Richland High School Royals football team for winning District 5/5A. This was the first undefeated regular season in school history. They are coached by Ged Kates.

Summary of Actions

  • Approved donations from: 

    • Freeman Buick–GMC to West Birdville Elementary; and
    • Ag Backers to the BCTAL Agriculture Science Program. 

    Approved revisions to Board Policy EIA (LOCAL) Academic Achievement: Grading/Progress Reports to Parents, and EIC (LOCAL) Academic Achievement: Class Ranking. These changes align with practice after moving from six-week to nine-week grading periods, and the use of grades from a retaken course in calculation of class rank and on the student transcript respectively. 

    Approved the utility easement with JPI Development. 

    Approved the Tarrant County District Appraisal fees for 2024. 

    Approved the School Health Advisory Council membership. 

    Approved budget amendments. 

Personnel Report

Bids/Contracts/Final Payments Awarded

  • Approved the purchase of:  

    • Forced entry resistant film and installation on doors and windows from Solar Security Films, Inc.  

    Approved the bids/purchases for: (Funds come from Bond 2022 funds) 

    • Network equipment, structured cabling, security and audio-visual equipment for the new Smith Elementary campus from multiple vendors.  

    Approved the contract for: 

    • MUNIS annual maintenance and support from Tyler Technologies, Inc. (renewal)
