Partners in Education Recognitions

    Ballet Forlorico

    Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth, led by Carmen Garcia, was recognized as an active business partner with Richland Middle School. The Ballet has contributed time, talents, and magical performances to Richland Middle’s Heritage Night over the past five years.  

Student Recognitions

  • TSPA Award winners

    Students from the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning’s (BCTAL) Law, Public Safety, Correction, and Security program were recognized for winning various competitions at the Texas Public Safety Association State Conference. Winners were: 

    • Ella Pursley, Birdville High, won third place in the Closing Arguments event; 
    • Hannah Clearfield, Shenouda Youssef, and Samuel Bush, Birdville High; and Adrianna Retana, Haltom High, won third place in the team Felony Traffic Stop event; 
    • Christian Ali and Gage White, Haltom High, won first place in the Correctional Institution Design event;
    • Jasmine Delacruz, Birdville High, won first place in the Inmate Processing event;
    • Lindsey Eastman, Thomas Vaughn and Madelyn Vance, Birdville High; Erica Baker and Courtney Dollarhide, Richland High; and Alee Camereno, Haltom High, won first place in the team SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) event.  

    PÕ¾ÊÓƵ student-athletes from spring sports were recognized for their success this season. They are:

    • Jayden Finley, Richland High, won third place at state in the 100m dash.
    • Michael Turner, Jean Ilunga, Dominique Johnson and Jayden Finley, Richland High, won second place at Regionals in the 4x100 relay. Cade Coulson and Cam’Ron Johnson were alternates on the team.
    • Dominique Johnson, Richland High, won second place at regionals in the long jump.
    • Jeremiah Sanders, Haltom High, qualified for state in the long jump and high jump. 

    Gymnastics

    Gymnastics 

    • Jacob Dickman, Richland High, was a Regional Qualifier by placing sixth on the floor and 11th on the vault. Jacob made the national team. 
    • Rylan Richards, Birdville High, was a state winner by placing fourth on rings, 10th on parallel bars, and 11th in the all-around. As a Regional Qualifier, he placed first on floor, third on pommel horse, eighth on rings, seventh on parallel bars, and fifth all-around.

Summary of Actions

  • Administered the oath of office to Place 1 Trustee Joe Tolbert and Place 2 Trustee Kelvin Dilks. 

    Elected the 2023–24 officers for the Board of Trustees. They are: Richard Davis, president; Kris Drees, vice president; and Ralph Kunkel, secretary. 

    Approved the donations from: 

    • Ramsey Education to PÕ¾ÊÓƵ; and 
    • IN2 Architecture to PÕ¾ÊÓƵ. 

    Approved budget amendment and transfer for summer projects. 

    Approved the design development phase for the replacement of David E. Smith Elementary. 

    Approved the request from the City of North Richland Hills for drainage easement at Smithfield Middle School. 

    Approved budget amendments. 

Personnel Report

Bids/Contracts/Final Payments Awarded

  • Approved the bids/purchases for: 

    • CTE classroom furniture for Haltom High School from Indeco Sales; 
    • Library furniture for Porter Elementary from Indeco Sales; and 
    • Commercial trucks for the warehouse from Rush Truck Center. 

    Approved the contract with: 

    • Canon Solutions America, Inc. for multi-function printer devices.   

    Approved the bids/purchases for: (Funds come from Bond 2022 funds) 

    • SAN and servers for the video security system upgrade from Netsync Network Solutions;
    • Staff laptops from Delcom Group; and
    • Student Chromebooks from Delcom Group. 

    Approved the contracts with: (Funds come from Bond 2022 funds) 

    • Tegrity Contractors for building renovations at Bob E. Griggs High School and Linda Kunkel Specialized Learning Center; and 
    • Lee Lewis for set up, installation of utilities, and first three months of lease payments for Francisco Elementary modular buildings.  

    Approved the final payment to:?

    • Hellas Construction for turf replacement at the Fine Arts/Athletics Complex.

  • Thursday, June 22, 2023, Regular Board Meeting, open session at 7 p.m., Boardroom. 

Special Session

  • THE BOARD MET IN SPECIAL SESSION on May 16 and took the following actions: 

    Approved the resolution approving a one-time retention payment of $750 for all full-time employees that have begun employment with the District no later than August 31, 2023, and who are still employed under contract, employment agreement or in a permanent position on a full-time basis as of October 13, 2023.  Qualified half-time employees will receive $375.
