    Northwood Church

    Northwood Church, represented by Scott Venable and Isai Cazares, was recognized as an active business partner with Watauga Elementary. The church has graciously supported our staff and families. 

Student Recognitions

  • Haltom High School Culinary Arts

    Haltom High School graduate, Janette Padilla, was recognized for winning third place in the Commercial Baking contest at the National SkillsUSA competition. She was a student in PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s Culinary Arts program. 

Summary of Actions

  • Approved the TEA waiver for remote homebound instruction. 

    Approved the revised 2021–22 Student Code of Conduct and Extracurricular Honor Code. 

    Approved the 2021–22 revised General Fund and Debt Service Fund budgets. 

    Adopted a resolution authorizing the District to provide COVID-19 leave until January 31, 2022. 

    Approved the 2021–22 ad valorem tax rate of $1.338 per $100 valuation. The maintenance and operations (M&O) portion of the tax rate is $0.9241 per $100 valuation, a 4.23 cent decrease over the 2020–21 M&O tax rate. The portion to pay the debt service (I&S) is $0.4139. The M&O tax rate is $0.0423 less than 2020–21, and the I&S rate is unchanged. 

    Adopted a resolution calling for prepayment of a portion of the Birdville ISD Unlimited Tax School Building Bonds, Series 2019. This prepayment will save taxpayers more than $2.45 million in interest payments. Since 2014, the Board has approved prepayments of $18.46 million of bond principals saving taxpayers more than $11.8 million in interest payments.  

    Approved the changes in the dates of the PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees meetings in November and December 2021. The November and December meetings fall during holiday periods. The changes are: Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. 

    Approved the 2021–22 teacher (T-TESS) appraisers. 

    Approved the 2020–21 principal and assistant principal (T-PESS) appraisers. 

    Approved the resolution recognizing 4-H as an approved extracurricular activity. Emily Shannon, Fralonda Aubrey, Jacklyn Jones-Doyle, Robin Hall, Jacqueline Frampton, Jordan Peldyak, Laura Miller and Alaina Woosley will be the adjunct staff members. 

    Approved the District’s Concussion Oversight Team (COT). Team members are:  Dr.?Damond Blueitt, Dr. Michele Kirk, Adrian Rosales, Lacy Foster, and Heather Penka. 

    Approved Steven Franks, director of business, as the Property Casualty Alliance of Texas (PCAT) member representative. 

    Approved budget amendments. 

Personnel Report

  •  Approved the request for sanctions of teacher certification for abandonment of contract. 

Bids Awarded

  • Approved the bids/purchases for (monies for these projects come from 2018 Bond funds): 

    • Yealink TEAMS phones from CXtec; and 
    • E-Logic, Inc. for asbestos abatement for Major Cheney Elementary. 

    Approved the contract renewals with: 

    • Renaissance Learning for Star 360 Universal Screener; and 
    • SMITH Protective Services for security services. 

    Approved the final payment to (monies for these projects come from 2018 Bond funds): 

    • Precision Demolition, LLC for asbestos abatement at Haltom and Richland middle schools and Smithfield Elementary; and 
    • Gliden Industries, LLC for fire alarm system replacement at Watauga Elementary.
