Partners in Education Recognition

    Victory Baptist

    Victory Baptist Church and representative Trish Fletcher were recognized for their support of West Birdville Elementary School. They have contributed uniforms, blankets, clothing, shoes, and supplies to the students. Also, they have purchased hundreds of reusable masks for students, and they love on the teachers each month with fun snacks and treats. 

     Gateway Church

    Gateway Church (NRH Campus) and representative Leslie Hyde were recognized for their support of West Birdville Elementary (WBE) School. They have provided bikes for attendance incentives; reusable water bottles for every student, a socially-distanced dance party in the field complete with a DJ, ice cream, and a balloon arch; WBE hoodies for every student and staff; school supplies; uniforms; food, gift cards; hygiene kits for each fifth grader; and even hotel rooms when the winter storm forced some families to leave their homes. They have reached out to some of those same families to provide aid and repairs. 

     

Student Recognitions

  • BHS Cheerleader

    Birdville High School cheerleaders were recognized for winning the UIL 5A-D1 Spirit State Championship. 

     All State All State

    The 2021 Texas All-State Musicians were recognized. They are: Sophie Connolly, Kurt Growald, David Hernandez, Matthew Leeper, Cecily Mallou, Leora Otteson, Alexis Palacio, Makenna Pollock, Judah Rainey, and Alyssa Perrin. 

     RHS Basketball Team RHS Basketball

    Richland High School boys basketball team and Coach Danny Henderson were recognized for the team winning first place in District 6-5A. 

Summary of Actions

  • Approved the Texas Education Agency Missed School Day waivers. 

    Approved the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Proposed Policy Update 116. Update 116 reflects changes in the law based upon recent administrative law and court decisions. Revisions were made to policies: 

    • CQB (LOCAL) Technology Resources: Cybersecurity [replace]; 
    • DCD (LOCAL) Employment Practices: At-Will Employment [replace]; 
    • DCE (LOCAL) Employment Practices: Other Types of Contracts [replace]; 
    • FFAC (LOCAL) Wellness and Health Services: Medical Treatment [replace, includes revisions recommended by Birdville ISD]; and 
    • GKA (LOCAL) Community Relations: Conduct on School Premises [replace]. 

    Approved the early childhood instruction materials. 

    Approved the interlocal agreement with Haltom City for resurfacing Hadley Street. 

    Approved the interlocal agreement with Richland Hills for resurfacing Dreeben Street. 

    Approved budget amendments.

Bids Awarded

  • Approved the bid/purchase for: 

    • Fire alarm replacement at Watauga Elementary from Gliden Industries, LLC. 

    Approved the bid/purchase for: (Monies for these projects will come from 2018 Bond funds.) 

    • Testing, adjusting and balancing the Birdville High School replacement HVAC systems from Air Balancing Company, Inc.; and 
    • Athletic equipment for the new Haltom and Richland middle school campuses from BSN Sports. 

    Approved the contracts with: 

    • Weaver and Tidwell, L.L.P. to perform the District’s annual audit; and 
    • Tarrant County Election Administration for the joint election. 

    Approved the final payment to:? 

    • Superior Exterior Fencing for miscellaneous fencing at multiple campuses. 

Future Board Meeting

  • Thursday, April 22, 2021, Regular Board Meeting, open session at 7 p.m., Boardroom.  

Special Meeting

  • THE BOARD MET IN SPECIAL SESSION on March 8 and took the following action: 

     Approved continuing the District’s existing COVID-19 prevention methods except that as of March 10, masks for third grade students and under will only be required in common areas as defined by administration.
