Summary of Actions

  • Approved the donations from:  

    • Birdville Education Foundation to PÕ¾ÊÓƵ; 
    • Mr. and Mrs. David E. Smith to Smith Elementary; 
    • Various donors to PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s teacher of the year event; 
    • Costco to Binion Elementary;  
    • Snow Heights PTA to Snow Heights Elementary; and 
    • Blakely Cabano to Richland Middle School. 

    Approved the revised 2020–21 debt service budget. 

    Approved the 2020–21 ad valorem tax rate of $1.3803 per $100 valuation. The maintenance and operations (M&O) portion of the tax rate is $0.9664; the portion to pay the debt service (I&S) is $0.4139. The M&O tax rate is $0.0036 less than 2019–20, and the I&S rate is unchanged. 

    Approved PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s Instructional Plan for Asynchronous Instruction. 

    Approved the District’s Concussion Oversight Team (COT). Team members are:  Dr. Damond Blueitt, Dr. Michele Kirk, Adrian Rosales, Lacy Foster, and Heather Penka.  

    Approved the revised 2020–21 teacher (T-TESS) appraisal calendar. 

    Approved the revised 2020–21 principal and assistant principal (T-PESS) appraisal calendar. 

    Approved the resolution for the sale of property struck off the tax roll at 4333 Monna Street. 

    Approved the ratification of operation connectivity interlocal acquisition agreement with Region 4 Education Service Center. 

    Approved the resolution for recall of Tarrant Appraisal District board member John Molyneaux. 

    Approved budget amendments. 

    Approved the resolution recognizing 4-H as an approved extracurricular activity. Steve Chaney, Fralonda Aubrey, Jacklyn Jones-Doyle, Robin Hall, Jacqueline Frampton, Jordan Peldyak, Laura Miller and Alaina Woosley will be the adjunct staff members. 

Public Meeting

  • A public hearing was conducted on the 2020–21 tax rate. 

Personnel

  • Approved the request for sanctions of teacher certificates for abandonment of contracts.

Bids Awarded

  • Approved the contract for: 

    • Security services from Smith Protective Security. 

    Approved the final payment to:? 

    • Progressive Roofing for the roof replacement at Shannon High School–Phase 1; 
    • John Cook and Associates for the HVAC renovations at Hardeman Elementary; and 
    • Infinity Contractors for chiller No. 2 replacement at Haltom High School. 

Future Board Meeting

  • Thursday, September 24, 2020, Regular Board Meeting, open session at 7 p.m., Boardroom.  

Special Session

  • THE BOARD MET IN SPECIAL SESSION on August 3 and took the following action: 

    Approved the beginning of classes on Aug. 24, as per the approved calendar, with online instruction only. On Sept. 8, students will be given the option of online or face-to-face instruction. Select special education students, whose educational goals cannot be met online, may receive face-to-face instruction as of Aug. 24.
