    Chuck Howard and Tonya Meyer with Chick-fil-A

    Chuck Howard and Tonya Meyer with Chick-fil-A on Boulevard 26 and Precinct Line were recognized for their support of the students and staff of Birdville High School. 

Summary of Actions

  • Approved Board President Ralph Kunkel as an official voting delegate and Board Secretary Joe Tolbert as an alternate delegate to the 2019 TASB Delegate Assembly.  

    Endorsed Becky St. John (Grapevine-Colleyville ISD) for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) board of directors, Regions 11, Position A. 

    Approved 2019–20 budget amendment for 2018–19 incomplete projects.  

    Approved the changes in the dates of the PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees meetings in November and December. The November and December meetings fall during holiday periods. The changes are: Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.  

    Approved the change in Board Policy FFAC (LOCAL) Wellness and Health Services: Medical Treatment. This revision updates wording dealing with the use of an epinephrine by staff.  

    Approved the change in Board Policy FM (LOCAL) Student Activities. This revision increases the number of extracurricular absences not related to post-district competition from 10 to 18 and allows for an unlimited number of absences for participation in post-district or state competitions. 

    Adopted the “Birdville ISD New Partner Elementary Pedestrian Bridge and Parking Resolution” in support of the District’s TXDOT Safe Routes to School grant application. 

    Approved the 2019–20 teacher (T-TESS) appraisal calendar.  

    Approved the 2019–20 principal and assistant principal (T-PESS) appraisal calendar.  

    Approved the superintendent to take actions regarding current, additional, and future contractors on pending construction projects.

  • Approved the bid/purchase for: 

    • Furniture for the PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Plaza from Indeco Sales; 
    • Dairy and juice products for Child Nutrition Services from Oak Farms; 
    • Fountas and Pinnell Phonics, Spelling And Word Study System for grades K-2 from Heinemann; 
    • Bus cameras from Longhorn Bus Sales; 
    • Beverage and vending services from KW Vending and Keurig Dr Pepper; 
    • Local retail and grocery purchases from multiple vendors; 
    • Instructional materials, software, teaching aids, library materials and other published materials from multiple vendors; 
    • HVAC service and supplies from multiple vendors; 
    • Electrical services and supplies from multiple vendors; 
    • Printing and copying services from multiple vendors; and 
    • Miscellaneous fencing at multiple campuses from Superior Exterior Fencing. 

    Approved the bid/purchase for:  

    • Roof work at the PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Plaza Building 400 from Progressive Roofing. Monies for this project will come from 2014 Bond funds. 

    Approved the contract with Key Construction Texas, LLC for the gymnasium addition at Smithfield Middle School. Monies for this project will come from 2018 Bond funds.
