Partners in Education Recognitions

     Smithfield United Methodist Church

    Rev. Mike and Cheryl Kerzee with Smithfield United Methodist Church were recognized for their support of Smithfield Elementary. The church provides mentors and volunteers to the school. In addition, they recently paid off all overdue lunch account balances for the students.

     

    Birdville Council of PTAs

    Birdville Council of PTAs 2018–19 President Lauren Althoff, First Vice President/Volunteer Coordinator Tami Copeland (not pictured), Fifth Vice President–Clothes Connection Becky Bolstad, and Sixth Vice President–Supply Depot Cathy Langston were recognized for their outstanding leadership of the Birdville Council of PTAs, Volunteer Partnership, Clothes Connection and Supply Depot.

     

Student/Staff Recognitions

  •  Haltom High School’s journalism program

    Haltom High School’s journalism program was recognized for the 2018 Haltom Buffalo Yearbook being awarded the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s Silver Crown Award at Columbia University in New York City.

  • Approved the donations from:

    • The Birdville Education Foundation to PÕ¾ÊÓƵ;
    • Haltom Road Baptist Church to PÕ¾ÊÓƵ;
    • John Grucella to the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning; and
    • Buyers Barricades to Richland Middle School.

    Approved the design development phase for Haltom and Richland middle schools from the 2018 bond.

    Approved the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Policy Update 112. Update 112 reflects changes in the law based upon recent administrative law and court decisions. Revisions were made to policies:

  • Announced nine appointments, 28 resignations and three retirements. 

    Announced five administrative appointments:

  • Approved the bids/purchases for:

    • Buses from Thomas Built Buses;
    • Floor wax from Wexford Labs, Inc.;
    • Floor products from Complete Supply;
    • Stairwell tread and landing replacements at Richland High School from RCS Flooring Services, LLC;
    • Vehicle for Student Services Department from Bluebonnet Motors, Inc.;
    • Spanish Language Arts Resources (SLAR) adopted materials from Benchmark Education;
    • Baseball and softball field repairs at Haltom High School and softball field repairs at Birdville High School from MasterTurf Products and Services, Inc.;
    • Playground equipment for Foster Village Elementary from Webuildfun, Inc.; and
    • Library furniture for various campuses from Indeco Sales.

     Approved the bids/purchases for: (Monies for this project will come from 2018 Bond funds.)

    • A generator and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for business continuance and the District’s disaster recovery site from 308 Construction;
    • Platting, topographic and boundary survey services agreement for Smithfield Elementary replacement campus from Teague, Nall and Perkins, Inc.;
    • Storm shelter commissioning from ReSt1 Engineering TX, LLC;
    • HVAC and lighting commissioning services from Engineered Air Balance Company, Inc.; and
    • HVAC and lighting testing, balancing, and commissioning for the PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Plaza renovations and multiple 2018 Bond projects from Air Balancing Company, Inc.

    Approved the final payments to:

    • Trane USA, Inc. for split system air conditioning replacements at the Porter Elementary gym and kitchen; and
    • LMC Corporation for security enhancements at multiple facilities.

     Ratified the contract with Core Construction for emergency repairs at the District’s warehouse.

    Approved the contract to provide substitute teachers with Education Solutions Services (ESS) South Central, LLC.

    Approved the change order to the Collegiate Academy of Birdville’s project with Tegrity Contractors, Inc. for a life skills suite at Haltom High School.

    Approved the evaluation capacity award cooperative interlocal agreement with ESC Region 20.

    Approved the resolution for a purchasing interlocal agreement with North East ISD.

     Approved the resolution for the interlocal purchasing agreement.
