    The Community Enrichment Center

    The Community Enrichment Center was recognized for its support of PÕ¾ÊÓƵ. They recently organized the fourth annual Refresh PÕ¾ÊÓƵ event where an estimated 2,500 students were served.

     

    Tarrant Area Food Bank

    Tarrant Area Food Bank was recognized for its support of PÕ¾ÊÓƵ. The Food for Kids program donated more than 93,942 meals to PÕ¾ÊÓƵ students during the 2017–18 school year.

     Ella Pursley

    Ella Pursley, seventh-grade student at North Ridge Middle School, was recognized as the State Board of Education’s 2018 Student Heroes Award Recipient for District 11. She has donated more than 700 community-service hours over the past five years to help children living in homeless shelters, as well as special needs students.

    Special Olympics Students

    Twelve PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Special Olympians were recognized for their efforts at the state Special Olympics Track Meet in Arlington. They were: Vihn Vu, Lionel Abiodon, Camille Diaz, Caitlin Easley, Cody Edwards, Kamryn Starks, Brandon Stanley, Dedee Pierre, Cletus Howard, Jared Henry, Jacob Henry and Emma Spicer. 

     Richland High School One Act Play

    Members of the cast and crew for Richland High School’s 2018 One Act Play was recognized for advancing to state. This is the first time since 2006 that a PÕ¾ÊÓƵ campus has advanced to the state level. Jake Barnett was also recognized for being selected to the UIL State All-Star Cast for his portrayal of Edgar Allen Poe.

    AED Team from North Oaks Middle  

    Members of the campus administration and the AED Team at North Oaks Middle School were recognized for saving the life of a substitute teacher who suffered cardiac arrest during the 2018 spring semester. Members of the team are: Jennifer Klaerner, principal; Susan Dean, assistant principal; Andrew Lawver, assistant principal; Carl Cage, school resource officer; Alex Snider, teacher; Patrick Linwood, security guard; Lily Kingsbury, nurse; Andy Ramirez, educational assistant; Luis Ramos, educational assistant; and Johnny Evans, teacher/coach.

Summary of Actions

  • Approved the donations from:

    • Tarrant Area Food Bank to PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s ASPIRE program;
    • Birdville Volleyball Booster Club to Birdville High School volleyball team; and
    • EECU to PÕ¾ÊÓƵ.

    Approved the 2018–19 ad valorem tax rate of $1.4539 per $100 valuation. The maintenance and operations (M&O) portion of the tax rate is $1.04; the portion to pay the debt service (I&S) is $0.4139. The I&S rate is 1.35 cents lower than what was presented to voters during to the 2014 Bond election. The total tax rate is unchanged since 2015.

    Approved the 2018-19 revised debt service fund budget.

    Approved the order calling for prepayment of a portion of the existing Unlimited Tax School Building and Refunding Bonds, Series 2007. This prepayment will save taxpayers more than $2.15 million in interest payments.

    Approved the change in Board Policy DBA (LOCAL) Employment Requirements and Restrictions: Credentials and Records. This revision clarifies that select CTE teachers identified in PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s District of Innovation plan, while not required to be state certified, would be issued a local teaching certificate.

    Approved the change in Board Policy DK (LOCAL) Assignments and Schedules. This revision clarifies that select CTE teachers identified in PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s District of Innovation plan, while not required to be state certified, would be issued a local teaching certificate.

    Approved the change in Board Policy DNA (LOCAL) Performance Appraisal: Evaluation of Teachers. This revision removes the less-than-annual appraisal for teachers who score at least proficient in a majority of the 16 T-TESS dimensions. It keeps in place the requirement that teachers still participate annually in the complete Professional Goal and Student Learning Objective process and still receive 3–4 additional informal walk-throughs.

    Approved the District’s Concussion Oversight Team (COT) as required by House Bill 2038. Team members are:  Dr. Damond Blueitt, Dr. Michele Kirk, Tom McLean, Lacy Bauer, and Heather Penka.

    Approved the resolution recognizing 4H as an approved extracurricular activity. Steve Chaney, Kent DeCardenas, Shannon Johnson-Lackey, Jordan Peldyak, Laura Miller, Alaina O’Daniel and one other member, yet to be hired, will be the adjunct staff members.

    Approved the resolution to accept an offer to purchase property struck-off for taxes. The property is at 4705 Cummings Drive East in North Richland Hills.

    Approved additional administrators to serve as teacher appraisers.

  • Announced two appointments and one resignation. 

Bids Awarded

  • Approved the bids/purchases for:

    • Catering and food related services from various vendors;
    • ReadyRosie from Pascal Learning; and
    • Stairwell doors for Haltom High School from Woodard Builders Supply.

    Approved software licenses renewal for:

    • Flocabulary and The Week in Rap from Flocabulary, Inc.; and
    • Support and updated licensing for Tyler Pulse from Tyler Technologies.

    Approved the contracts for:

    • Property management of the Hills property to Colliers International.

    Approved renewing the interlocal agreement with JPS Health Network and Fort Worth ISD.

    Approved the final payment to:

    • LMC Corporation for the restroom facility site package at Richland Middle School;
    • Noveau Construction and Technology Services for a distributed antennae system at North Richland Middle School;
    • Fort Worth Electric for auditorium walkway lighting system replacement at Haltom High School; and
    • Engineered Air Balance for test and balance and commissioning at Birdville Elementary School.

  • THE BOARD MET IN SPECIAL SESSION on August 16 and took the following actions:

    Approved the order calling a bond election to fund the 2018 bond planning committee’s bond package. The $252.8 million bond election will be held on November 6. School property tax rates will not increase as a result of this bond proposal.
