  • The Key Class from North Richland Hills Baptist Church

    The Key Class from North Richland Hills Baptist Church was recognized for their support of Richland Elementary. They support the staff and students by helping maintain the facility and providing assistance to the teachers.

     

    Matt Dages, Birdville High School student, Three Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning students

    Matt Dages, Birdville High School student, placed third at the SkillsUSA national competition in Mobile Electronics that included a written test and demonstration of competency at skills stations including market radios, power windows, and navigation and sound systems.

     

    Three Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning students placed at the 2018 Educators Rising National Conference in the Researching Learning Challenges event. This event required research to be conducted and presented to judges on a plan with solutions to assist students with dyslexia. Team members are: Madison Bolling, Chris Mercer and Lily Wiser, Birdville High School graduates. (Jovana Diaz, Haltom High School graduate, was part of the team through the region and state competitions.)

Summary of Actions

  • Approved 2018–19 budget amendment for 2017–18 incomplete projects.

    Approved the changes in the dates of the PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees meetings in November and December. The November and December meetings fall during holiday periods. The changes are: Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. 

    Approved the change in Board Policy FFE (LOCAL) Student Welfare: Student Assistance Programs/Counseling. This revision updates outdated terms to make it consistent with other Board Policy and TEA’s Pregnancy Related Services department. 

    Approved the change in Board Policy GKDA (LOCAL) Nonschool use of School Facilities: Distribution of Nonschool Literature. This revision restricts the District from posting literature on the website from charter schools, public schools, private schools, online schools or programs, or any other organization that may be in competition with the District. 

    Approved the 2018–19 teacher (T-TESS) appraisal calendar. 

    Approved the 2018–19 principal and assistant principal (T-PESS) appraisal calendar. 

    Approved budget amendments.

Personnel

  • Announced 46 appointments, 35 resignations and 1 in memoriam. 

    Approved the administrative appointments of:

    • Amanda Holman, Assistant Principal, David E. Smith Elementary
    • Tammy Daniel, Coordinator of Online Learning
    • Judyth Pierce, District LPAC Liaison

Bids Awarded

  • Approved the bids/purchases for:

    • eBooks for secondary students from OverDrive, Inc.;
    • STAAR Mission Math and Performing Math from Cosenza & Associates, LLC;
    • Districtwide paper from Western-BRW;
    • Musical instruments and accessories from Music and Arts;
    • Grand piano for Haltom High School from Metroplex Piano; and
    • Furniture for Haltom and Richland high schools from Indeco Sales.

    Approved the bid/purchase for: (Monies for this project will come from 2014 Bond funds.)

    • Servers and equipment for the District’s Network Operations Center (NOC) from Dell, Inc., and
    • Network equipment for Spicer Elementary and Birdville High School from Flair Data Systems.

    Approved software licenses renewal for:

    • Unique Learning System and News-2-You from N2Y, LLC.

    Approved the contracts for:

    • The College Board’s Early Participation Program (EPP) agreement for PSAT 8/9 and PSAT/NMSQT from College Board;
    • Audiology services from Heard It Through The Grapevine Audiology;
    • iBoss Content Filtering Solution from Sentinel Cyber Intelligence; and
    • Professional development services from International Center for Leadership in Education.

    Approved the final payment to:

    • Fireman’s Paving Contractors for sidewalk replacement on the adjacent parking lot at Birdville Elementary.
