    Pastor Kris Drees, Children’s Minister Rachel Jones, and Haltom Road Baptist Church were recognized for their support of Smith Elementary. Members of the church volunteer and mentor at the school.

    Jeff Fitch, Birdville High School boys basketball coach, was recognized for his team winning District 8-5A.

Summary of Actions

  • Approved the donations from:

    • Birdville Band Boosters, Inc. to the Fine Arts Department; and
    • Mannatech, Inc. to the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning.

     

    Approved cancellation of the 2018 PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees General Election. Whitney Harding, Place 3; Jack McCarty, Place 4; and Richard Davis, Place 5, filed and are unopposed for the May 5 election.

     

    Casts votes for Larry Blair, Place 1; Rita Cook, Place 4; and J.B. Morgan, Place 7, for the election to the board of directors for the Education Service Center (ESC) Region 11.

     

    Approved Board Policy DEC (LOCAL) Compensation and Benefits: Leaves and Absences. This revision addresses changes concerning an employee’s notification of retirement as well as mid-semester resignations.

      

    Approved the TEA application for expedited waivers.

     

    Approved budget amendments.

     

    Approved the Texas Association of School Boards’ Policy Update 109. Update 109 reflects changes in the law based upon recent administrative law and court decisions. Revisions were made to policies:
