Recognitions

  • Patrick Dodson and Firefighter's Finest Movers

    Patrick Dodson and Firefighting’s Finest Moving and Storage were recognized for donating the resources to deliver more than 12,000 books collected by PÕ¾ÊÓƵ students, staff and community to Braeburn Elementary in Houston. The Braeburn campus was destroyed by flooding from Hurricane Harvey.

     

    Paige Curry  

    Paige Curry, PÕ¾ÊÓƵ’s director of human resources, was recognized for receiving the 2017 Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators (TASPA) Dr. Mary Hopkins Personnel Administrator of the Year Award.

     

    Mike Teague and the Birdville High School Swim Team  

    Mike Teague, Birdville High School swimming coach, was recognized for the boys and girls team winning District 9-5A.

Summary of Actions

  • Approved the donation from:

    • Smithfield Middle School PTA to Smithfield Middle School.

     

    Approved Board Policy DK (LOCAL) Assignments and Schedules. This change would be used to hire highly qualified individuals to teach CTE non-core, CTE core academic or CTE/STEM courses.

     

    Approved Board Policy DBA (LOCAL) Employment Requirements and Restrictions: Credentials and Records. This change would be used to hire highly qualified individuals to teach CTE non-core, CTE core academic or CTE/STEM courses.

     

    Approved Board Policy AF (LOCAL) Innovation Districts. This change reflects wording change related to the District of Innovation.

     

    Approved the purchase of 16 acres of property within the boundaries of PÕ¾ÊÓƵ.

     

    Approved budget amendments.

Public Hearing

  • A public hearing was conducted for the end-of-year accelerated instruction program.

Personnel

  • Announced nine appointments, five resignations and 12 retirements. 

     

    Announced the Administrative Appointment of:

    • Jerone D. Eddings, Assistant Principal, Richland High School

     

    Approved renewals and extensions of personnel contracts for the 2018-19 school year.

Bids Awarded

  • Approved the bids/purchases for:

    • Google Chromebooks and licenses from Dell, Inc.;
    • Touch-screen Google Chromebooks and licenses from Gov Connection;
    • Athletic supplies and equipment from various vendors;
    • Softball scoreboards for Birdville and Richland high schools from Daktronics;
    • Track repair at Birdville High School from Paragon Sports Constructors;
    • Acoustic panels at Francisco Elementary from Nouveau Construction and Technology Services; and
    • Auditorium walkway lighting system replacement at Haltom High School from Fort Worth Electric.

     

    Approved the contract renewal with Horizon Software International for point of sale, menus and inventory software for the Child Nutrition Department.

     

    Approved the bids/purchases for: (Monies for these projects will come from 2014 Bond funds.)

    • Projectors for elementary gyms from Howard Technology Solutions; and
    • Security cameras (Phase 2) from Nationwide Network Technologies, Inc.

     

    Approved the final payments to:

    • LMC Corporation for security fencing and gates at multiple schools;
    • Ramtech Building Systems, Inc. for a modular restroom facility at Richland Middle School (2014 bond funds);
    • Ed A. Wilson, Inc. for service elevator replacement at Haltom High School (2014 bond funds); and
    • LMC Corporation for vinyl and paint improvements at Green Valley and North Ridge elementary schools.

Future Board Meeting

  • Thursday, March 22, 2018, Regular Board Meeting, open session at 7 p.m., Boardroom.

Special Session

  • THE BOARD MET IN SPECIAL SESSION on February 1 and took the following action:

    Approved the purchase of 42.0913 acres of property within the boundaries of PÕ¾ÊÓƵ.
